Visualisation of the proposed Kurt Schwitters Study Centre and Museum by Rebecca Sewell, prepared for the KS10 Autumn School exhibition, October 2010

Apart from the Merz Barn wall at the Hatton Gallery in Newcastle there is no permanent gallery or museum in England devoted to the work and life of Kurt Schwitters. Artists, curators and scholars would also benefit by having a study centre where they could come to research and access (on-line) all the available information relating to Schwitters' works, and the Merzbau projects. Anew campaign is currently being launched to raise the funding to build a Kurt Schwitters Centre and Museum at Cylinders. It is planned to invite leading architecture practices to participate in an international competition to design the study centre.
