2 - 4 October 2009 KS09 Kurt Schwitters International Autumn School - Art and Architecture seminars at the Merz Barn, Cylinders Estate, Elterwater.


Friday 2nd October, 7.30pm

Guy Brett, International art writer and curator, INIVA, will give the annual Kurt Schwitters lecture, at Chapelstile village hall in Langdale. Lecture topic to be confirmed.

MERZ KABARET and barbecue with invited performance artists, musicians, poets and dancers and, by popular demand, a sensational repeat performance of Schwitters’ sound poems; ANNA BLUME and the URSONATE-unplugged, by Accrington’s leading psychedelic/indie/garage band - Funnel, and their inimitable lead singer Joe Joe.

KS09 - The annual Kurt Schwitters Herbst-Schules (KS07 - KS12 Autumn Schools) form part of a longer term development programme which aims; to restore Kurt Schwitters’ last great Merzbau project (The Elterwater Merz Barn, 1947), establish an international Kurt Schwitters Merzbau museum & study centre for architects and artists, and create a Kurt Schwitters in England Foundation or Trust to oversee and promote the legacy of Schwitters and the Merzbaus. It is planned to open the restored Merz Barn and site to the general public in July 2012.
